National Chiao Tung University Environmental Radiation and Protection and Laboratory Safety and Health Committee Organization Rules and Regulations

One.  National Chiao Tung University (simply called this university below) forms the Environmental Radiation and Protection and Laboratory Safety and Health Committee (simply called this committee below) under the environmental radiation and protection and safety and health laws and under the environmental and safety management articles of this university’s laboratory, to promote this university’s environmental radiation protection and health and safety at work.

Two.  This committee’s responsibilities include assessing, deliberating, planning and supervising the items below:
        1. The establishing of environmental and radiation protection and safety and health management
rules and regulations.
        2. The committee chairperson’s assigned management items regarding environmental and radiation
protection and safety and health management.
        3. The university’s lab related regulations regarding environmental and radiation protection and
safety and health management.
        4. Campus environmental and radiation protection related regulations.
        5. Prevent harm from mechanical equipment or raw materials.
        6. Responsive strategies to operational environmental testing outcomes.
        7. Drinking water and health management items.

Three.  There are forty five people within this committee, which include:
        1. Chairperson:  To be served by the University President.
        2. Deputy Chairperson:  To be served by the university vice president.
        3. Committee member serving as executive secretary: the director of Environmental Protection and
Safety Center
        4. Ex-officio members: Dean of Academic Affairs, Dean of General Affairs, Dean of Student Affairs, Dean of Research and Development, Dean of College of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Dean of  College of Engineering, Dean of College of Science, Dean of College of Management, Dean of College of Humanities, Director of Microelectronics and Information System Research Center, Director of Nano Facility Center, Dept Head of Electronics Engineering Dept, Institute Head of Photonics Institute, Dept Head of Civil Engineering Dept, Dept Head of Mechanical Engineering Dept, Dept Head of Material Science Dept, Institute Head of Environmental Engineering Institute, Dept Head of Applied Chemistry Dept, Dept Head of Electro physics Dept, Dept Head of Biological Science and Technology Dept, Section Head of Environmental and Radiation Section, Section Head of Safety and Health Section, Section Head of Public Fire safety Section, Section Head of Construction and Maintenance Section, Section Head of General Affairs Section, Section Head of Health and Protection Section.

        5. Selected members: fifteen people chosen from the listed working team, term of 2 years, with re-selection every year for 1/2 of members

Four.  This committee, in reference to the 4^th article of the Dept of Education’s ‘Methods of Managing Toxic chemicals in Academic Institutions’, establishes the toxic chemical substances management committee (simply called toxic committee below), which consists of 5 to 7 members.  The members will consist of members with an understanding or expertise in the management of toxic chemical substances, with the term of appointment being the same as this committee.  If members with related expertise are less than 5, the required numbers can be hired from the staff of this university with relateded expertise.  The chairperson will be the director of Environmental Protection and Safety Center. 

Five.  This committee will meet every 3 months, and can call ad hoc meetings if needed.

Six.  This committee can invite members from related units to sit in at the meetings.

Seven.  Each institute and department, and related units, should establish an environmental and safety committee or one related to it, to be responsible for the implementation of the environmental and radiation protection and safety and health work within the unit.

Eight.  This article will come into effect after being passed by the Administration Meeting, and reported and approved by the University President.   The same will apply to any modifications.
